This Weather is For The Birds!

After a snowy Sunday here in Calgary I just HAD to pull out some more summery colors that have me dreaming of picnics in the park and sunny days! I love the color combination of Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, and Tempting Turquoise, all from the Brights Collection from Stampin' Up! I used the For the Birds stamp set - I think it is one of my all time favorites! The background paper is from the Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. A little Melon Mambo sponging along the edges of the tag really make it pop along with some Stampin' Up! Dimensionals.

Supplies Used:
Ink: Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Black Stazon
Stamp Set: For the Birds
Paper: Whisper White, Gingham Garden DSP
Accessories:Brights Candy Dots, Burlap Ribbon

My First Online Challenge!

This week's challenge over at The Friday Mashup says to use the colors Daffodil Delight, Perfect Plum, and Wild Wasabi. It also challenges you to use an Aquapainter or Blender Pen. As soon as I saw the challenge, I knew I wanted to pull out my "Blessed Easter" tulip stamp out of the Spring Catalogue and I used my blender pen to color in the tulips. Be sure to use your Jet Black Stazon ink pad before coloring in the image to avoid "bleeding" of the black outline. I didn't have a Wild Wasabi ink pad so I compromised by using my Wild Wasabi marker and scribbling some color on the inside of one of stamp cases and using the blender pen to pick up the ink that way.

It didn't turn out the way I planned when I first started making the card but I do like the final result!

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Blessed Easter
Ink: Wild Wasabi, Perfect Plum, Daffodil Delight
Paper: Perfect Plum, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White
Other Supplies: Scallop Trim Border Punch,Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Linen Thread, scissors, Big Shot

Testing the waters

Welcome to my blog! After more than 10 years of being a faithful Stampin' Up customer, I finally decided to take the plunge and join the SU team! I work full time as a medical transcriptionist and papercrafting - cards and some scrapbooking mostly - has been my hobby for many years. I was first introduced to card making and heat embossing when I lived in a tiny northern British Columbia town 15 or so years ago and even though my hubbie and I have moved a few times over the years, crafting has been one constant in my life. I love hearing people say "you MADE this?!!" when I first give them one of my birthday cards or just a thinking of you card. I hope you will come back soon as I show you some of my creations.
